CHILD OF THE UNIVERSE

While there’s a sun in every person

The moon and stars reside inside us

We are the conscious silence of love

Bringing meaning to life without fuss.

The moments of experience immense

The light unsaid,unrevealed , unseen

Like whispers of eternity in sequence

All the days we live with pure essence.

We are the breath of air and breeze

The winds that blow and never cease

Universal silent song that never ends

Till eternity shaping all lives extends .

We are the woven grass of prairies

Rising high in sheer adversities

Bringing light into eyes of famished

Shining as starlight in nights ravished.

Like a flower in the garden of Eden

With a long heritage of the Heavens

Born into the silence as stars diverse

Reality is we are a child of the Universe.

UNIMAGINABLE SPACE

With wisdom in our heart

Ugliness dissolve and change

Evolving and growing beautiful

In touch with endless stars

In the unimaginable space inside us

Imagine the silence of depth

That swallows all noise and worry

The shallow thoughts of life vanish.

The unimaginable is clear

We know for sure

What’s always underneath

The moments of our life

As they pass into eternity

The conscious silence in our heart

Like love and truth is bare

Beauty of nothingness is shared

We know the air and feel the breeze

Like leaves of trees

And ocean waves dance unseen

With clouds in the sky

On a rainy day

Transient in the winds.

The unimaginable space

Is so easy to imagine

Waiting to be explored

All we have to to do is take a break

Breathe deeply in silence

And find inside us

The wilderness waiting

In the twilight of our heart .

WHY NOBODY READ YOUR POEM?

To be lost is a feeling that is heavy

It becomes the centre of your being

The upheaval goes on the chest

With no choice but to breathe

It strips away what matters

Leaves you with a vacancy

Of what's missing and not there

The scars become prominent

And the pain overbearing

A feeling of being left behind

Without anywhere to go

Staring at the concrete wall ahead

Standing still not knowing what to do

Seeing the light fade and shadows leave

Seemingly against the will of no hope

Hitting hard with unheard-of questions

On the static face dancing

Showing what is going on behind the back

Motion sickness ignored is not dead

Now you know why your poetry is not read.

WHEN WE CARE

Winter’s noisy emptiness moans

Somberly patient silent trees

Holding aloft their abject skeletons

Look out at the human bones

Can new flesh sprout out someday ?

When Spring arrives with new hope

Like April's daffodils in snow

Memories of lost touches renew

As roots grope to refresh the crowns

Deep down buried under hard rocks

Of unrelenting hopelessness

What frees the prisoners of weak flesh

When selfishness postpones

Caring buds bloom on dry branches

New leaves sprout in darkness

Weeping we stand in earnest

That life goes on when we care.

 GIFTS TO UPLIFT

The time spend in the garden

Sunbathing in the Summer Sun

Flowers with their fragrance

Of knowing we are all one.

Some time to read and rhyme

Silence and simplicity

To rest and recuperate

And be immersed in empathy.

Time spent in conversation

Walking by the sea

Time spent in the country

It is great we all agree .

Greatest gifts unsurpassed

Resides here in our hearts

Ability to love unconditionally

A love that's meant to last.

Good health and friendship

Gifts that spirits uplift

Our passion and happiness

Are imminent wealth that exceeds.

 ICONOCLAST IMAGIST

Chaos is the attraction of Nature

Order is the dream of Humankind

In stale abstractions of the day

The station of Metronome they say

Denounced conventions masquerade.

Error and consequences didactic fibs

Leaving traditions with troubled heap

Glittering images among the rocks

Anthropologist scholars explore rubble

Contradictions in formless tracks double.

In verseless verse that scorns rhymes

To glorify false assumptions with time

Time has been lost with so much talk

Blind to the path of ticking clocks

Losing precision and argument in docks.

In summary aspiring genius irony

Of Modernism in one of stylish infamy

The consolation is the imagist few

Pick scattered petals to renew

Calligraphed masterstrokes in the blue.

TEACHERS

The greatest teacher is the world itself

Glory comes to those who find her codes;

For she is coy, no book upon a shelf,

Must be found via crab-walk modes:

Ask questions which make inroads

And open yourself to others manifold.

Warning from heedless hands come due

Curiosity takes its toll to steps renew

Circumspection guides concern askew

As you recover you are free to review

With obverse strokes of creativity few

Days and weeks and years just flew.

Instructions proceed aesthetically

Which breeds addiction to novelty

Knowledge turns to dogmas strictly

Probing mind builds wisdom literally

As it judges right from wrong truly

Living a fulfilling life splendidly.

On a quest lifelong exploring

Seeing many ways to live finding

A purpose that is the soul's song

Curiosity dwells with such lifelong

Do not assume how a teacher looks

When alone your teacher is your book.

POSSIBILITY IN ADVERSITY

We only know that we are right

If we are willing to be wrong

By trying to extend our sights

And never give up but fight

Knowing that the goal is long.

We can only learn to walk

When we stop to crawl

And stand our ground till last

Inclined to face any brawl

Risking a fall to rise up fast.

Many prospects pass us by

Merely as we do not try

To step out and give our might

Success quietly waits outside

As opportunities given to fly.

When we are not willing

To leave our comfort cocoon

Many chances are lost in reality

As we quit and give up too soon

Life is full of possibility in adversity  .

*PAHALGAM*

The beautiful valley severed by vicious strokes

Blood splattered on green meadows

Stunned citizens by this ghastly murders

Bestial, hellacious terrorism splattered

Robes of humanity thrown away forever

Brutal, sadistic selves gleeful over innocent victims

Lives snuffed out with planned precision

Headlines screamed in incredible horror

Unbelievable eyes screeched with terror

Screens marred with tearful eyes shocked

Mindless violence choked , reasons blocked

Blood curdling visuals shaming humanity

Happy tourists felled by savage bullets

Husbands lying in the silence of Death

Wives mourning in shell shocked wailing

Wounded and axed tall trees in a sylvan haven

Sky whimpered with their collective pain

Pahalgam cursed by its own beauty

A slaughtered community crying bitterly

Brooks flowing with the stench of bloody bath

Deodars shrieking in notorious nightmares

White snows crimson with the grieving brides

Heavenly Kashmir is suffering  immensely perpetually.

 EQUALITY -CHALLENGED

Autistic children are special angels on Earth

Intelligent and loving with pure mirth

Mentally challenged are children forever

Playful and innocent with humour moreover

Physically challenged have immense strength

Self respect and self esteem their only defence

Handicapped persons have an artistic elegance

Their talents need exploring essence

Humankind needs to recognise the difference

This planet belongs to all with reverence

Love can be seen by the blind and heard by the deaf

So why not love all imperfections as oneself

Nothing is perfect as kindness and compassion

Being humane is the noblest passion

Successful progress is the key of inclusion

Exclusion leads to everyone's frustration

Patience is vital and a virtue to be restored

These people are true steps toward Heaven

Equality and justice is unity in diversity

We cannot be blind and deaf to love unconditionally

Humanity is above any kind of disability

Like Nature embraces and unites with dignity

Like an artist creates masterpiece with care

We all can create a better life for all who dare.

  5. A nubile mind from east India set out on a journey across the world some 30 years ago. On the way she collected postcards of life in her heart, scribbling notes, keeping a montage of impressions in her head, inhaling the intensity of the passage of days. With tiny brushstrokes, her canvas was coming to life. The real merged with the surreal. And a writer was born. If she seems like a lady with a vision to me today, the tomes of her work testify to my instincts. I came across her poetry some years back. I was intrigued enough to delve into the net for more on her. Soon I found a literary site citing prominent contemporary authors. There was a post with her bio. I became her ardent follower.

The cerebral power of Jyotirmaya Thakur is enhanced by her philosophical and meditative sides. As intuitive as she is, her capacity for understanding and reflecting on the smorgasbord of life with its twists and turns, peopled by humans in 50 shades of grey, is immense. Long years in academia gave her exposure to both impressionable minds and the pressures on them. Being a mentor to them was a life experience she was to cherish. Her continued tryst with learning all her life gave her the insight and knowledge she wished to impart to her wards. As a Principal of a Cambridge- affiliated school, she had a dream run. Enough to satisfy many great people. Education was the keystone to change lives and societies. But for Jyotirmaya the explosion was yet to happen.

  6. Jyotirmaya Thakur -The name embodies an auspicious, holy light. This perhaps is also her latent mission in life. For a poet, academic, motivational writer, researcher and commentator at a global level, her influence can be established from her 50 published books, hundred-plus anthologies and diverse dissertations on peace, ethics, duty, humanity, nature, existence, spirituality, literature, culture and brotherhood. Her innate writing skills soon found expression. It began with her intensive training in Reiki healing. A series of books by her saw the light of day. The healing touch of Jyotirmaya Thakur had begun to spread.

  7. Empathy is what Jyotirmaya Thakur propagates. Hardships undergone have made her more sympathetic to turbulence in society. But her motivation and determination have not wilted. Spirituality has been key in her development all her life. As she matured, this became her fundamental strength to imbibe and impart wisdom. Now she has been translated into 40 languages and is an official translator too for Ithaca, Spain.

She does not ignore the existence of trials and travails in life. But she has ventured on a mission to explore the methodology to overcome challenges. She shows how to focus on continuous growth and development, healing and happiness, giving and gratitude. With paeans to the Almighty, she professes meditation to alleviate pain. Her odes to humanity, peace, ethics, duty, nature, existence, spirituality, literature, culture and brotherhood all project the values of love, humility, simplicity and generosity. Kindness is the leitmotif of her work.
